This course explores the biblical concept of shalom, focusing on the economic dimensions of material poverty in Scripture. Participants will learn how biblical teachings can inform churches' approaches to addressing poverty in their communities.

This course explores the economic dimensions of the biblical concept of shalom. We will examine the nature and dimensions of material poverty in the biblical world and how that reality is addressed by various parts of Scripture, from the Law and Prophets to the Gospels and Acts. Emphasis will be placed on how churches can use biblical frameworks to develop more just, effective, and transformative approaches to material poverty in their own communities.
